Invext It celebrated the first edition on September 23rd FORO Invext, a new space for sharing perspectives on the challenges facing the business fabric. This time, the conversation focused on the growth of industrial SMEs and the role that strategic partners can play in driving it forward.
FORO Invext It marks a new stage for the company. What began as the Royo family’s family office has evolved into an investment business group, with an increasingly expanded team and new partners and collaborators. With this forum, Invext aims to bring together entrepreneurs, investors, and professionals in an environment that allows them to talk calmly, share experiences, and open up conversations that continue beyond the day.
The meeting began with a dialogue between Raúl Royo, president of Invext, and Javier Arribas, Responsible Partner of Transactions at Deloitte in the Valencian Community, under the title The challenges of industrial SMEs, In it, they outlined the current context in which the entrepreneur and investor operate, and the challenges they must face. They even gave a glimpse of where the key elements for doing so lay.
Growing up to face a more demanding environment
The round table Strategic partners for reindustrialization gathered together Pedro de Álava, Founder and managing partner of Side Capital Partners; Angela Pérez, President of the Social Council of the University of Valencia and of ADEIT; and José María Martínez, president of APD Comunidad Valenciana and of Simetría Grupo, along with Pablo García, Director of Investments at Invext. His different perspectives allowed him to address what a company needs to grow and compete more effectively.
It highlighted a structural difficulty for the Spanish industry: many of its SMEs are of small size compared to their European counterparts. This is combined with challenges such as professionalization, the recruitment of talent, and investment in innovation, in an environment that requires adaptability and agile decision-making.
The Valencian company has a strong entrepreneurial and export-oriented character. However, the conversation also revealed a trend towards approaching growth on an individual basis. In many family businesses, the influx of external capital is still perceived as a potential loss of control, even when there is awareness of the limitations of continuing to grow alone.
One of the ideas left from the day was the difference between the mindset of someone who starts from scratch, who often soon considers what funding and partners they need, and the mindset of companies with a long history who have learned to move forward on their own. Opening up to a partner with a shared vision can be a way to continue the project and take it further.
In that context, private capital can contribute more than financing: experience, strategy, talent, and the structure to manage growth. That is also the vision from which Invext It develops its business investment activity. With FORO Invext, The company aspires to continue generating points of connection and new conversations to create the future together.
