The Valencian fund R2 Seed Investments, of which it is part Invext, has invested in the Catalan company Skincoach, dedicated to personalised dermatological treatments by subscription.
Skincoach, which launched its services in the US earlier this year after a funding round that included, among others, a co-founder of Uber and the former CEO of Proactiv, uses proprietary technology that allows it to assess the progress of dermatological treatments through Selfies. The company provides its users with a custom skin code and, based on it, they prepare a routine adapted to each skin type on a monthly basis.
The company is led by Pablo Prieto, who has extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry with companies such as Almirall, Recombinant Capital and Curelator. In addition, Skincoach was co-founded in 2018 alongside a group of experts in dermatology and technology, including dermatologist Josep Malvehy (Hospital Clinic of Barcelona), Carlos Gallardo (Almirall), and Humberto Antunes (Nestle Skin Health, Garderma), among others.
The R2 investment in this company falls within the Fund plan to invest in technology companies, This was initiated with Kenmei and JobIn taking stakes. In this regard, R2 foresees three more investments during 2020 and has an investment commitment of 3.7 million over its lifetime.
At the moment, the fund participated by family offices Valencian companies like Invext are making initial investments of between €100,000 and €150,000, which in some cases are accompanied by bridge rounds of up to €400,000.
